What this site does and doesn’t do with your information.
This notice explains, in plain English, what personal information FinanceCompass collects, what it doesn’t, and how the site is hosted. It is written for the students, parents and carers who use the site. It is a transparency notice, not legal advice, and it describes the site as it currently works.
What FinanceCompass is
FinanceCompass is an independent, educational website about finance, economics and finance careers in the UK, written for students aged 16 to 18. It is not affiliated with any employer, university or professional body. There are no accounts, no paid features and no advertising.
Who operates it

What FinanceCompass collects
FinanceCompass does not collect personal information. The site does not provide accounts, sign-ups, forms, comments, uploads, chat, or any other way for a visitor to submit personal details. The interactive tools on the site — calculators, sliders and the small demonstrations on the Economics page — run entirely in your browser. Anything you type or adjust stays on your own device and is not sent anywhere.
Cookies and browser storage
The site itself sets no cookies and does not use browser storage such as
localStorage or IndexedDB, and the pages contain no advertising or
social-media scripts. Because the site is served by a hosting and CDN platform (Cloudflare,
see below), that platform may use strictly necessary technical measures — for example a
security check cookie — to operate and protect the service. Those are part of the hosting
infrastructure, not something FinanceCompass sets or reads.
Analytics
FinanceCompass does not currently run first-party analytics, and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts are loaded by the site. If that ever changes, this notice will be updated first.
Links to other websites
The site links to outside sources — employers, universities, competition organisers and official guidance. When you follow one of those links, you leave FinanceCompass and the destination service’s own privacy practices apply. We can’t control what they do with your information.
Hosting and technical information
Like any website, visiting FinanceCompass involves your browser sending a request to the servers that host it. The hosting platform (Cloudflare Pages, a CDN provider) necessarily processes technical request information — such as your IP address, the pages you request, and the type of browser you use — in order to deliver the site to you and to keep it working. That processing is handled by the hosting platform under its own terms and privacy policy, and FinanceCompass does not store or inspect that information itself.
Children’s privacy
FinanceCompass is designed as an educational resource for older students, and its privacy approach is deliberately conservative: the site collects no personal information from anyone, including its intended 16–18-year-old audience. There is nothing on the site that asks a visitor for their name, age, or any other identifying detail, and the site does not verify anyone’s age.
Your data protection rights
Data protection law, where it applies, gives people rights over personal information held about them — for example to access or correct it. Because FinanceCompass does not collect personal information, there is ordinarily nothing of yours held by the site to access, correct or delete. If a situation ever arises where the site does hold personal information, those rights would still apply.
